Lake Como approximate

The Bitterroot Valley, stretching south from Missoula, is flanked by the massive Bitterroot Mountains to the west and the Sapphire Mountains to the east. The riding here is diverse, ranging from the family-friendly loop around Lake Como to deep, punishing backcountry routes in the national forest.

The Warm Springs Trail System, located near Sula at the southern end of the valley, offers 47 miles of advanced riding. The local advocacy group, Bitterroot Backcountry Cyclists, maintains nearly 100 miles of trail in the valley. The trails are managed by the US Forest Service, and access is free.

Must-Ride Trail: The Warm Springs Trail System provides a massive network of advanced, backcountry singletrack for those willing to put in the climbing effort.
