Western Montana
Located in the arid, rocky hills near Three Forks, Copper City is a purpose-built mountain bike destination that has transformed shoulder-season riding in Montana. Because it sits in a rain shadow and lacks heavy timber, the trails here dry out weeks before the surrounding mountains and stay clear long after the first snows.
The system features 15 trails, including directional, downhill-only flow trails, technical rock ridges, and beginner-friendly loops. It is a stark contrast to the deep woods riding found elsewhere in the state. The area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management in partnership with the Southwest Montana Mountain Bike Association, and access is free.
Must-Ride Trail: Neversweat is a fast, rocky, black-diamond descent that utilizes the natural topography to create challenging drops and technical features.
