Bozeman, Montana

In the Gallatin Valley, surrounded by the Northern Rocky Mountains, the Museum of the Rockies houses one of the largest collections of North American dinosaurs. The museum draws from the Two Medicine, Judith River, and Bearpaw formations. Jack Horner, who revolutionized the understanding of dinosaur behavior with his work on Maiasaura, served as curator here.

Visitor Access

This is a world-class, massive facility. Admission is twenty dollars for adults and fourteen dollars for youth. It is open daily, year-round. The museum features a growth series of Triceratops, the "Big Al" Allosaurus, and the most Tyrannosaurus rex specimens anywhere in the world. Visitors cannot dig, but they can watch paleontologists prepare fossils in the glass-walled Bowman Dinosaur Viewing Laboratory.
