Near the massive Fort Peck Dam and the expansive waters of Fort Peck Lake, the Interpretive Center holds court. The surrounding Hell Creek Formation yielded "Peck's Rex" in 1997. When discovered, this Tyrannosaurus rex was seventy-five percent complete, making it the second most complete specimen in the world at the time. Paleontologist Keith Rigby Jr. helped preserve the find.
Visitor Access
The center is free to visit and open daily from May through September. It displays a life-size replica, a full-size skeleton cast, and a hands-on exhibit of the massive T. rex skull, grounding the visitor in the sheer scale of the apex predator. While they do not offer public digs, the adjacent Fort Peck Lake offers extensive camping, fishing, and boating.
