Rudyard, Montana

Rudyard lies on the Hi-Line, surrounded by the vast, open wheat farms of the northern Great Plains. The Depot Museum's Dinosaur Hall features the "Oldest Sorehead," a fully articulated Gryposaurus pulled from the Two Medicine Formation, which dates back seventy-five to eighty-three million years. The museum also houses a lifelike Maiasaura specimen and egg nest. Jack Horner has worked extensively in this area, aided by local landowners like Dan and Lila Redding, who opened their farms to paleontological research.

Visitor Access

Admission is free, though donations are suggested. The museum operates on summer hours from Memorial Day through Labor Day, open Monday through Saturday. For those wanting to get their hands dirty, the museum helps coordinate public digs during the summer months, turning the surrounding prairie into an active classroom.
