Malta, Montana

Located next to the Milk River in northeastern Montana, the Great Plains Dinosaur Museum focuses on the Judith River Formation. The star of the museum is Leonardo, a "mummy" Brachylophosaurus whose fossilized remains are covered in soft tissue, allowing scientists to study its skin, scales, and final meal. The museum also houses Roberta the Hadrosaur and Ralph the Camarasaurus.

Visitor Access

Admission is ten dollars for adults and five dollars for youth. The museum is open daily from May through September. This facility is highly active in field research and offers public digs during the summer. For a fee, visitors can join paleontologists in the field, excavating seventy-five-million-year-old rock, or work in the prep lab cleaning and stabilizing fresh discoveries.
