Great Falls offers a surprising amount of quality singletrack, much of it centered around the Missouri River. The South Shore Trail System is the premier network, offering 18 miles of advanced riding along the bluffs and coulees above the river.
The trails here are characterized by short, punchy climbs, technical rock features, and fast, rolling descents. The North Shore and River's Edge trails provide additional mileage and technical challenges. Because Great Falls sits on the plains, the riding season here is significantly longer than in the mountain towns to the west. The trails are managed by a mix of city, state, and federal agencies, and access is free.
Must-Ride Trail: The South Shore Trail System offers the most comprehensive and challenging riding in the area, with 18 miles of interconnected singletrack.
