Billings Rimrocks
Billings is not a mountain town. It is a prairie town, situated on the banks of the Yellowstone River and dominated by the massive sandstone cliffs known as the Rimrocks. And that is exactly where you ride.
The Zimmerman Trail system and the trails along the Rims offer a completely different flavor of Montana riding. You are dodging prickly pear cactus and sagebrush, navigating technical sandstone ledges, and riding right on the edge of a sheer drop-off with the entire city spread out below you. It is hot, dry, and exposed, but the technical challenges are real, and the views are massive. It is proof that you do not need pine trees and alpine lakes to build a great trail.
