Choteau, Montana

Choteau lies on the Rocky Mountain Front, a rugged landscape of diverse wildlife. The Two Medicine Formation here is roughly eighty million years old. The Old Trail Museum highlights the discoveries made at nearby Egg Mountain by Laurie Trexler and Marion Brandvold. Their finds of Maiasaura nests, eggs, and specimens at various life stages fundamentally changed how science views dinosaur parenting.

Visitor Access

Admission is five dollars for adults and three dollars for children. The museum is open daily from late May through Labor Day. It features an Einiosaurus, a ceratopsian found only in Montana, and offers a hands-on "touch bone" from a real duck-billed dinosaur. The facility is a great jumping-off point for exploring the Rocky Mountain Front.
