These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of treasurestate.com and related tools operated by Treasure State (“we,” “our,” or “us”), including interactive maps, guides, and member account features. By accessing or using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use personal information.
What the site provides
Treasure State publishes Montana travel, outdoors, history, and related information, plus interactive tools such as the land ownership map and trip planners. Content is for general informational and planning purposes only.
Accounts
Some features require a free Treasure State account. You may sign in with Google or an email magic link. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information and keep your sign-in method secure
- Use only one account unless we expressly allow otherwise
- Not share account access in a way that facilitates abuse of gated tools
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, attempt to scrape or bulk harvest data, or otherwise misuse the service.
Access Etiquette and land information
Our land ownership map and related Access Etiquette features display Montana State Library (MSDI) and related public GIS for informational use. This information:
- Is not a legal survey, deed, title opinion, or guarantee of access rights
- May lag recorded deeds, fences, leases, closures, and local rules
- Does not grant permission to enter private land
Owner contact details shown to verified members are public-record information intended so you can ask permission respectfully. Montana law prohibits using lists of persons prepared by a public agency as a mailing or distribution list without permission. You agree not to use Access Etiquette (or any data obtained through it) to build mailing lists, spam, harass landowners, or scrape the service at scale.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or security controls
- Scrape, bulk download, or resell site content or GIS-derived personal data
- Interfere with site operation or other users’ access
- Misrepresent affiliation with Treasure State
Third-party services and links
The site may link to third parties (maps providers, booking platforms, Google sign-in, Shopify store, affiliate partners, and others). Their terms and privacy policies apply to those services. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services.
Affiliate disclosure

Intellectual property
Site design, original writing, branding, and compilation of content are owned by Treasure State or its licensors unless otherwise noted. You may browse and share links for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy substantial portions of the site for commercial reuse without permission. Third-party marks (including Google) belong to their owners.
Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT AND TOOLS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. We do not warrant that content, maps, or land data are complete, current, or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Treasure State and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or reliance on any content or GIS information. Outdoor travel and land access involve inherent risk; you are responsible for verifying conditions, access rights, and safety before you go.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
